Start with the arrival experience
Guests form an opinion of a rental in the first few minutes. A clean entry, fresh scent, made beds, and a kitchen that looks intentionally reset all reinforce that they made the right choice.
A practical turnover checklist
Your list should be specific to the property, but these are the core categories most hosts need covered.
- Inspect each room for guest belongings and visible damage
- Clean and sanitize kitchen, bathroom, and high-touch areas
- Change beds and reset towels
- Run the agreed bed-linen and towel laundry on site
- Check owner-supplied essentials and guest-facing supplies
- Reset staging details and confirm the property is secure
- Capture completion photos and report issues promptly
Make it repeatable
A written checklist creates a shared standard for everyone involved. It also helps prevent the common omissions that lead to negative reviews: an empty soap dispenser, a forgotten trash bin, or a bed that was not fully reset.
Review the checklist after a few turnovers and adjust it for your exact property, season, and guest expectations.
